[spoiler]His elder sister was murdered by Jack the Ripper. At the time he found her, she was close to death, yet not dead, but he, being afraid of Jack the Ripper, ran away and left her to die. He regrets his actions. Every time he tries to run, he remembers it and cannot continue.[spoiler]

One who continues to roam in the world of incessant rain. One who is continuously being pursued by mysterious rabbits. His father stopped showing up in his house long ago, and his mother committed suicide. There is no one in his house but him. He is very depressed, cannot eat properly, often has memory lapses, and sometimes wants to end it all, yet only one image comes to mind when he does: the image of his brother, waiting for him at school on Sunday. It's his one remaining reason to live.

[spoiler]Actually, he was abused by his father, and his mother closed her eyes to his abuse. Being so lonely, he "created" his illusion of a brother, the only person with whom he could actually talk. They drew a story about a wolf and a rabbit, where the wolf eats the rabbit and dies because he has eaten unpure flesh. There Masato was rabbit and wolf—his dad. It could be said that it has become a rule. Then the protagonist was bitten by a dog and told his brother about it. His brother (taking control of his body) killed many dogs.

Masato thought that his mother was looking for him, that she was on his side, but one day everything changed. They fought over something trivial, and then the mother blamed him for the family problems. He concluded then that she was like his father and started killing girls who looked like his mother. After that, the mother tried to kill them and slit her wrist once more. She was alive and would live through, as she did many times, since she did not actually intend to die, yet her brother found her and carried out the sentence.

He, or rather "his brother", is the so-feared Jack the Ripper.[/spoiler]

The cold-hearted person is Masato's only remaining family member and the only reason for his life. His best ally. Yet why does a chill run down Masato's spine when he is in his brother's company?..

[spoiler]Being only an illusion and a different personality that was "created" by Masato due to being too lonely, he does not exist in reality. He supports his brother as much as he can. Also, he recognized "the child story," which he drew with his brother, as some sort of rule—"the wolf, who has eaten the impure rabbit's flesh, should die." Therefore, he, controlling his brother's body, commits many murders: dogs, girls who look like his mother, his mother herself, Niimi Nobuo.

He is the so-feared Jack the Ripper.[spoiler]
