Abandoned as an infant in a poor fishing village, Reinhold's early days were filled with abuse and tragedy. Swordsmanship was the primary outlet he had to take his mind off his miserable situation, and eventually became his ticket to finally escaping it entirely and joining the army.

The five years he spent there hunting down bandits, mercenary groups and other such threats to Grenache served to further regine his skills and distinguish himself amongst his comrades. So when word got out that the King himself was going to hold a swordsmanship tournament, Reinhold's commanding officer practically forced him to enter.

Little did he expect that winning it would net him a job as Royal Bodyguard.

Taught by the best instructors from the age of six, every aspect of Karel's life has been directed towards the ultimate goal of becoming a renowned swordsman.
And after sweeping tournament after tournament, that goal was attained several years earlier than expected.

Thing is, she's actually a girl.

But even though being forced to hide her actual gender can be a massive pain at times (often in the literal sense), Karel is more than happy with her life.
She loes making her mother proud, she loves practicing swordsmanship, and she especially loves all that sweet sweet prize money.

It's only recently that her life's become particularly complicated.

Those who are familiar with Luciana's teasing and flirtatious nature might be surprised to find that her closest friend in the entire world is the taciturn Marianne.
The two Princesses happen to share a number of likes and dislikes, and visiting Granache is something that she never passes up an opportunity to do.

Especially not towards total strangers who suddenly impose upon her life.

Starting as one of Princess Marianne's personal attendants, her hardworking nature eventually led her to be considered for the position of Head Maid.
She did turn down the job, but still ended up saddled with its responsibilities anyways.

Melanie has managed to win over just about all of the eccentric personalities who reside in the castle with her kind and patient nature... and if there's anyone left in the castle who dislikes her, they've long since learned to keep their mouths shut for fear of catching the ire of certain individuals who are quite protective of her.

It's also recommended to stay far away from her when she first wakes up in the morning, for unrelated reasons.

Though Nicolette is quick to boast that she's the strongest Captain in the entire Royal Guard, it's a title that none would claim she didn't earn. And despite her current position being one that most people would be more than happy with, to her it's nothing more than the final step towards her ultimate goal of becoming a Knight.

Tomboyish and foulmouthed, Nicolette doesn't exactly place much value on being "proper".
Fortunately, her brusque nature is mostly countered by her generally friendly disposition.
And while it may not be much of an issue when it comes to her job, it does pose concerns for certain relatives of hers who really wish that she'd be more ladylike.

But her parents and siblings wouldn't have her any other way.

Rana is a fullblooded Dragon and relatively strong for her age... but even so, her parents refused to allow her to leave home without her much more levelheaded younger brother tagging along to keep her out of trouble.
Together, the two siblings have traveled all over the region in pursuit of adventure, the latest of which has led them to the Kingdom of Marconetti.

Though her tendency to never think things through and total lack of a sense of direction are an eternal source of aggravation for her brother, even he will admit that her cheerful disposition and eagerness to help others makes up for those flaws.

Not that she sees herself as anything less than perfect.

Sylvie has long dreamed of becoming a powerful mage and going on adventures just like her father did in his youth.
Trained by him from an early age in physical combat, he prevented her from even learning the fundamentals of magic until she ws able to prove to him that she was able to handle herself in a fistfight.

When not making up for lost time in her magic studies, Sylvie is most often found goofing off with her best friend Nicolette. While their personalities and interests may be polar opposites, the two of them are inseparable. 

That doesn't stop her from getting punchy when Nicolette goes overboard with her teasing, though.

Reinhold's years of practicing the sword have finally paid off. Sweeping a Kingdomwide tournament netted him an absurd amount of prize money, and the King himself was so impressed with his skill that he personally transferred him out of the Army to serve in the royal palace.  

While this new position as bodyguard to the Crown Princess is an appreciated change from his previous life of trudging through swamps in pursuit of bandits, it does bring its own difficulties...
