Valerie is the main protagonist of the story. She is a cheerful and energetic sixteen year old girl who loves sweets, games, and eating. She's not very good at academics and is a bit naive, but she makes up for it in determination and optimism. She's been best friends with Ethan and Sophie since middle school, and trusts them more than anyone. 

After having a nightmare she can't remember about a magical princess named Rosalia, Val unlocks the powers of the legendary Crystal Warriors and transforms into the warrior of love and hope, Diamond Heart. Now with her fairy partner Diana, she must rescue the missing princess and fight the evil Nightmare Agency, who plans on putting the world into eternal sleep.

Alex is one of the most popular guys at school and for good reason: He's a genuinely friendly and fun guy to be around! 

Alex is hardworking, easy-going, athletic, and has a great sense of humor! But he also has a serious and virtuous side. Despite being a senior, he’s in the same junior-level English class as Val. Alex has a very big family who he cares for deeply, and he is a devout Catholic.

He gets along surprisingly well with Liam, and considers him one of his closest friends. The two of them are practically inseparable.

He transformed into Garnet Heart in order to protect his family from the Nightmares, and represents passion and devotion. As Garnet Heart he has power over fire.

Amber is a dog-like fairy knight from the magical kingdom of Chalcedonia. She is honest and brave and has a strong sense of justice. She puts her all into everything she does, especially her Crystal Warrior duties. She can be impulsive, has a hot temper, and she is very sloppy and crude,  but she has a good head on her shoulders. She holds a grudge against Diana for some reason, however the two of them seem to be very close.

She gained her powers in order to save her country and transforms into Amber Heart. She represents courage and protection and has powers over lightning.

Chandra is a quiet, timid, and shy girl who tends to blend into the background. She is quite pessimistic and grouchy, and has trouble trusting people. She lacks self confidence and comes across as a very gloomy and depressing person to be around, because of this she doesn't have many friends.

She has been absent from school for many months due to personal reasons, and returns just in time to be roped into Valerie's shenanigans.

Chandra Maharaj

Clover is the wealthy and former heiress of the incredibly powerful Vermillion family. She's charismatic, refined and a true upperclass lady, While she has no problem making a good first impression, she is very shy and clumsy with personal relationships, and can be spoiled and a bit of a crybaby.  Shes a bit arrogant, and has a short temper, often taking disproportionate retribution against others. However she is very sweet and loves her family with all her heart. She greatly admires her older sister Lotus and aspires to be just like her someday.

She meets Valerie by chance after hearing the new's that her sister Lotus had quit modeling without telling her. After her sister is attacked by the nightmare agency, she transforms into the Crystal Warrior of fantasy and starlight, Amethyst Heart in order to protect her.

Diana

Diana is a fairy from the magical kingdom of Chalcedonia, and Princess Rosalia's most loyal and trusted knight. She is normally very serious, calm, and collected, but becomes impulsive and reckless when it comes to the princess. She loves the princess more than anything and would do anything to protect her. She takes her duties as a knight and Valerie's fairy guide very seriously, and is the level-headed of the two, often giving her advice.

She doesn't get along with Amber, however the two of them seem to be close.

Liam is a genius who has never gotten less than 100% in anything. He comes from a very wealthy family and is considered to be destined for success. He is cold and difficult to approach, but despite his rotten attitude (or perhaps because of it?), He is very popular, often getting numerous love confessions from very bold students.

He's the student council president, but spends most of his time sleeping rather than assisting in student activities. His closest friend is Alex Harvey, his total opposite. 

When he and Alex met Amber, a magical fairy from Glimmer, he soon after activated the powers to become the warrior of Kindness and Loyalty, Emerald Heart. However, he found himself having difficulties with using his powers.

As Emerald Heart he has powers over nature and plant-life.

Sophie is the next door neighbor and childhood friend of Ethan and views him like a younger brother. Although they only knew each other since middle school, she also became close friends with Valerie. She's vice president of the student council and is very hardworking and reliable. Although she is friendly and energetic toward her friends, she can be stern and cold toward people she is uncomfortable around. She's also known for being very strict, making sure Ethan and Valerie get all their work done in a timely fashion. She's very curious and loves learning about new things, and is always rambling on about her latest discovery. She has a soft spot for frogs and reptiles, and keeps several as pets.

She gains her powers on her 17th birthday in order to protect her friends from the Nightmare Agent Opal. She transforms into the Crystal Warrior of intelligence and clarity, Sapphire Heart and has powers over ice and water.

Sophia Anderson

Flirty, fun, and overflowing with energy, Zacharie always has a smile on their face. They always do their best to remain optimistic despite how hard things can get. They don't get along with their parents and because of this left home to live with their aunt Paulina. Zacharie is a member of the Fashion Club and loves anything beautiful and cute. Many people find them a bit eccentric and overwhelming but they are very popular, especially with girls. They are a bit pushy and impatient and tends to speak without thinking, but they means no harm and they have a kind heart. They are a good friend of Ethan's and the two of them are in the same art class.

After seeing their friends in danger, they immediately gain the ability to transform into the Crystal Warrior of joy and fortune, Citrine Heart. They have powers over sunshine and light.
