## Description
Depending on which route you choose, you start out as either Alfred Arrowsmith, after his united front with Rick against Gustave, or Kuki Youkou after his final confrontation with Soushichi. Ungaikyou (literary means the mirror beyond the clouds), a youkai made from the failure attempt of the mirror of the three artifacts belonging to Amaterasu (the Sun god in Japanese mythology), has chosen these two to help them create a world of their own. In exchange, Alfred and Kuki are temporary exempt from going to the netherworld and finish their lingering desires…in their non-respective worlds.

After the completion of the two stories, the final route—Chronobelt—unlocks. Almost immediately after Kuki and Alfred finish dealing with their lingering desires, invaders have slipped through the portals and into the Infinite Corridors (the space connecting the two worlds). Before long, team Ayakashibito is in a constant war with team Bullet Butlers in what can only be described as the city of Chaos.

### Kisaragi Soushichi (如月双七)
The protagonist of Ayakashibito. His former name before he escaped from the island facility is Takebe Ryouichi.
He's a Jinyou who cries when he is sad, and cries when he is really happy. He can make good decisions on the fly, and thus makes good use of his power: [spoiler]ability to communicate with metals[/spoiler]. Pretty mature in terms of attitude towards life, and values the importance of everyday life.

### Kuki Youkou (九鬼耀鋼)
Second in command of the 17th Jinyou Pursuit Organization in Ayakashibito, and one of the protagonists of the sequel, Chrono Belt.
He is Soushichi’s teacher in both martial arts and life. He's the creator of the Kuki style. Kuki style originates from the basis of a Chinese martial arts style called Enkaken. The original style is created as an anti-youkai style (humans using it to stand a chance against the youkais), while Kuki Ryuu modifies it to be more suited for use against Jinyous. The style emphasizes on circular strikes and counterattacks (parrying and then retaliating). Thus despite being human, he is able to slay youkai and jinyou with these specialized palm fighting techniques. He later [spoiler]fuels on Youkai and was going to be the biggest threat Ayakashibito’s world have seen.[/spoiler]

His weapons are his palms, and an umbrella.

### Rick Arrowsmith (リック・アロースミス)
Butler of the Fortenmayer House. He serves Selma under the order of Land Fortenmayer. Due to his somewhat calm and optimistic personality, he is often seen as a soft man, yet he does not show any mercy to enemies. Both of his parents are dead. His past had various specific circumstances. His favorite gun is called the Whistle of Dark Peril, also known as Bale Hawter. It is a specific magical gun, holding its own will and able to even engage in conversation.

A monster who normally only exists in Gold Rock. A lump of meat creature created by mixing together many corpses and ghosts. It grows by absorbing living creatures capable of magic.

### Magdala (マグダラ)
A core member of the surviving Seidohyougikai, and the main villain in Chronobelt. She is a trickster belonging to the Meidorabbit race; she likes to play with people’s fate and lives by her desire to do whatever she wants. Even then, her moves are calculated and she possesses a tricky "Emes Trablem" which makes her a painful opponent to face.
She's also a major character of the Novelized version of Bullet Butlers.

### Ungaikyou - Kyou (雲外鏡・鏡)
The mirror which exists by Gold Rock, Bullet Butler's world. An artifact spirit raised and created by Ungaikyou - Sui by using a small fragment of her own soul.
Contrasting Sui, she's more humble, she tends to devote herself toward her elder sister. One thing they both share to the same degree is their incredibly strong sense of duty.
She doesn't understand the behavior and psychology of humans, so she tries to ascertain them by watching their way of life.

### Ungaikyou - Sui (雲外鏡・睡)
Ungaikyou (literally: "the mirror beyond the clouds") is a youkai made from the failure attempt of Amaterasu’s mirror called Mafutsu no Kagami (an alternate spelling of [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yata_no_Kagami]Yata no Kagami[/url]). Her duty is to protect and maintain order in the Infinite Corridor. She has a complex with being made from a "failure" and dislikes the Ayakashibito world. In an effort to [spoiler]make the Infinite Corridor her own world, she pulled two wandering spirits from going to the netherworld…[/spoiler]
Her name originally was only Ungaikyou, however after the creation of her little sister she added Sui after her name.

### Alfred Arrowsmith (アルフレッド・アロースミス)
The cold-hearted, emotionless, and merciless brother of Rick. Wields a magical gun called the Dead Ones' Touching Finger, also known as Luda Grefind. He lost his arm while saving his mother and has a prothesis instead of it. He lost his parents due to a bloody accident, which resulted in him losing "affection" and having an endless void inside his heart, which will cause many woes in the future.

Alfred was separated from his brother soon after they were taken in by the Fortenmayer family, as he was taken by Sid, who saw the very same darkness in Alfred's eyes as he had. Having the means to live, he had no personal goal in life, nor even an attachment to living itself.

He does not distinguish between justice and injustice, good and bad, right and evil, and therefore finds the "right" in the will of one whom he serves. He carries out his master's darkest desires, even if they were not spoken, sometimes unbeknownst to the master himself, even if they intended to manipulate, twist fates, plunge in the mud, or even kill children, lovers, and old men all over the world.

[spoiler]He believes he cannot progress without settling the score with his brother Rick, whom he has grown to envy for his ability to feel positive emotions and affection. Alfred's actions brought collapse to endless souls and even his master Sid, even if he could be saved, for it was his long-harbored desire in the bottom of his heart. Being a Russian exchange student, she possesses silky silver hair and has a slightly more minute stature than the average. On the outside, an innocent(?) school girl but really she is a [spoiler]secret agent from Russia investigating in Jinyous of Japan[/spoiler].
Tonya possesses a calm, witty, analytical side [spoiler]that compliments her job as a spy[/spoiler] but also her snarky, playful and mischievous nature makes her a very rounded character. It’s probably not an exaggeration that most of her sharky side is in her fights with [url=/c297]Suzu[/url] (i.e. always). But how she teases Soushichi and [url=/c301]Keijirou[/url]/[url=/c331]Io[/url] about their romantic relation, her anger/jealous mode when someone tries to "advise" on her physique, in contrast to how she is always a reliable ally in combat and her kindness that is shown indirectly makes me think she is the best support any protagonist can get.

### Ichinotani Touko (一乃谷刀子)
A heroine in Ayakashibito. She may seem the yamato nadeshiko archetype, but is scary when angry. She has just slightly more jealousy than average women and is often caught in her own fantasies. Though do not be deceived by her looks, she possess inhuman strength due to her Youkai ability and can single handedly wield "Bunichi", an anti-spirit katana with abnormal length and sturdiness that is able to cut a car in two.

The commanding officer of the Dominion 17th team. She is strict, on both others and herself, and puts up a strong front. As such, she is able to control the speed, power and size of her shots.

### Kisaragi Suzu (如月すず)

She hates every human with the exception of Soushichi. She claims she is Soushichi’s older sister due to her real age, but really doesn't act like one, she's more of a stubborn girl.
Has amazing powers called Soul of Language, whereas she can [spoiler]command other people around who feel compelled in following her orders[/spoiler]. Feels that Soushichi is always too kind and a little too naive.

The monk who has gone the path of asura (destruction). He is a member of the Dominion 17th team and has a straight, honest personality as long as he gets his fight.
His youkai ancestry stems from a youkai species called [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gashadokuro]Gashadokuro[/url] (giant skeletons, the spirits of the unburied dead). His power is to realize the swordsmen he defeated in the past and thus controlling many sword at once…up to 30.

Her youkai ancestor was a [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennin]Tennin[/url] (incredibly beautiful, ethereal, celestial women, they are almost always depicted as wearing white, flawless kimono, with scarves wrapped loosely about their bodies), thus she inherited an ability to release a fragrance at will through her mouth, which could put people's heart at peace when inhaled.
Probably due to how she's not very good at dealing with guys in real life, her hobbies are anime, manga and games centering on boy's love. She gets a bit attracted to the new student council member, Kisaragi Soushichi though...

Originating from a youkai ancestor called Kawaakago (an infant monster that lurks near rivers and drowns people), she got an ability which makes it possible to use specific objects as relay points. For example she can connect to other cellphones by using a destroyed cellphone as the relay point.
A timid, shy person, who during emergency can change into a splendidly courageous individual. Normally she's so diffident that she has trouble speaking with others, so she often resorts to "speak" via her stuffed toy, as by using it as her mouthpiece she can talk more or less fluently.
She has taken a liking of [url=/c301]Uesugi Keijirou[/url], but it's rather difficult for her to "break the ice".

A Jinyou living in Kamizawa, and the president of the newspaper club in the academy there (...as a matter of fact she's its only member). She believes in ordinary journalism, so she changed the campus newspaper to focus on cheap entertainment instead.
Her ancestor is a Fuguruma-Youbi.

Jinyou living in Kamizawa. He works as a teacher in Kamizawa Academy. His father is a politician, and due to that he he's on good terms with Yatakarasu and Karasutengu.
His ancestor was a stone-youkai called Sekiyou, thus he can harden parts of his body into stone. The hardened parts then can deflect bullets or break things such as iron doors. He takes pride in being the strongest not just in Kamizawa Academy, but in whole Kamizawa.
Master of the Yata Raiten style. It's a style originally used by the tengu youkais to defend themselves against the assaults of humans. Youkais, while strong individually, can be overwhelmed by humans in large numbers, especially if they're carrying weapons, so Yata-Raiten style is actually focusing on fighting One vs Many using lighting-fast strikes with one's fists. Throughout the game he [spoiler]starts mentoring Soushichi too so he can learn this fighting style.[/spoiler]

He appears very very very briefly in Chrono Belt if one patches it to 1.1, as Fujieda Ayaka also interviews him in her omake section about [spoiler]what he thought of Kuki during their fight[/spoiler]. He is voiceless there though.

She originates from a youkai called Shichinin-Misaki, and thus she's able to think in multiple parallel ways at the same time using her ability (she stops at three though given that she gets anemic upon trying more).
Childhood friends with Uesugi Keijirou, they both seem to be aware that the other might feel more, but they are in a state where neither steps in to change this.

His youkai ancestor is a giant species called [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daidarabotchi]Daidarabotchi[/url] (a giant youkai touted to have created many geographical features in Japan), which grants him powers whereas he can't feel the weight of anything he grasps. His parents are managing a small, cheap, but delicious soba shop, where he often has to help out by doing deliveries and such.

Albeit Tonya vehemently denies it, recently he started "brainwashing" her with these hobbies.

His power is to manipulate soil, earth, and consequently also asphalt and other matters.

### Yatagarasu (八咫鴉)
A pure youkai. Yatakarasu literally means an eight-handed crow, and is a god in the Shinto mythology.
In the game he's a huge three legged crow disguised as a man. He's an envoy sent to Japan by Amaterasu. Even though he's extremely childish and spoiled, he's over 2000 years old. Inheriting Shizu's roles and accompanied by Karasutengu, he shoulders the responsibility of commanding the youkais. He's on good terms with the politicians, and he's feasible to work as one. He's in a fierce battle with Ten who [spoiler]killed Shizu, but their fight isn't concluded due to the latter's injury. Similarly how Ten lost most of his power, Yatakarasu too lost his magical powers: when he takes human form, he's limited to the body of a child[/spoiler].
Has a rivalry with Kisaragi Soushichi over Suzu.
