## Description
Mihama Academy - on the surface, a closed learning environment established to nurture students who find themselves at odds with the world around them; in actuality, an orchard-cum-prison built to preserve fruit that has fallen too far from its tree.

Whatever the circumstances behind its establishment, Mihama Academy is at present home to five female students, all with their own reasons for "enrollment." For better or worse, each girl has established a routine obliging of her current situation; life moves at an idle, yet accommodating pace within the walls of Mihama.

Yet with the arrival of the institute's first male student, the nearly preposterously opaque Kazami Yuuji, the students at Mihama begin to fall out of step with their predetermined rhythms. Will Yuuji prove to be the element the girls around him needed to take hold of their lives once more, or will the weight of their pasts prove too steep a wall to overcome?

And in the first place, just who is Kazami Yuuji? While the true nature of the "job" he is wont to alight to at the most haphazard of moments remains shrouded in secrecy, one thing is for certain - his encroachment upon the quiet orchard known as Mihama Academy will prove itself momentous in one way or another. And of course, one cannot discount the possibility that perhaps Yuuji himself carries the weightiest past of any of the students...

### Kazami Yuuji (風見 雄二)
The protagonist of the first Grisaia series. Ace number 9029, Yuuji is the "janitor" for the underworld. Tired of his life, he wanted to live a normal school life. Cool, philosophical, and minimalist, Yuuji is a realist (but also a tsundere). Being very cautious, he always plans and scouts before action. Other than his occasional orthodontic military methods, he’s just a fit young man. He disguised himself as "exchange student from Canada".

### Irisu Makina (入巣 蒔菜)
A first-year student of Mihama Academy, Makina is an innocent and carefree girl. For some unexplainable reasons, it’s hard to understand her personality. In general, she can be explained in one word, “Fool”, but sometimes her speech and behavior can make people shed cold sweat. For that uniqueness, most of people who talk with her for 5 minutes will say “This girl is awful”. Makina adores [url=/c567]Yuuji[/url] as an older brother and [url=/c568]Amane[/url] as an older sister, and calls Yuuji “Onii-chan”. Although she has her own room in the dormitory, for some reason, she always stays in Amane’s room. Because of her parents' work, she stayed in foreign countries until she was 6 so she can talk English. [spoiler]Her family is rumored to be a large financial clique which controls the underworld of Japan, but almost nobody knows the unhappiness which she suffered from being born in such a troublesome family. She used to be the successor of Irisu family but her inheritance right was transferred to her younger sister, Irisu Sarina, after she suffered a mental shock in an accident relating to her father. Despite all of that, she still has 70 million yen as her own property.[/spoiler]

### Komine Sachi (小嶺 幸)
A first-year student of Mihama Academy, also known as the maid of Mihama Academy. Except when going to school, taking a bath or swimming, Sachi is always wearing a maid uniform. She uses it because everyone told her to wear a maid uniform as much as possible. Sachi is polite and has a strong sense of responsibility, she never fails to accomplish any request from the others. In her action dictionary, there are only 3 words “receive”, “confirm”, and “execute”. Because of that reason, she often takes jokes way too seriously and causes a lot of trouble. Her favorite animal is shark; the shark-shaped pouch which Michiru always carries around is made by her.

### Matsushima Michiru (松嶋 みちる)
A second-year student of Mihama Academy, Michiru is a fake tsundere with bleached blond twin tails. She has a deep interest in the tsundere character and tries to act like one. Her silly and energetic personality makes her the moodmaker of the class. However, Michiru's grades are bad. She always carries around a shark-shaped pouch which contains lemonade sweets. Despite having difficulty with sour foods, she still tries to drink 100% pure-Vitamin C drinks in order to “improve her intelligence”, as Michiru has herself stated. She has encountered a great deal of bad luck since her birth but has always managed to get through these ordeals in one way or another.

### Sakaki Yumiko (榊 由美子)
A second-year student at Mihama Academy, the daughter of "East Beach Railway Express Group" tycoon. After Mihama Academy had been established, she was the first student to enroll. Her characteristic is her waist-length black hair. Because of her bluntness and hard-to-please personality, her association with strangers is bad. Always trying to be alone, she hardly comes along with the others. She always carries a box cutter with her and uses it to threaten others when she gets angry. Yumiko has read so many books that she’s called a “Bookworm”, and especially mystery novels are her favorite ones. Although she’s such a lady, she changes completely in meal time, junk foods like a cup of fried soba noodles is one her of favourite dishes.

### Suou Amane (周防 天音)
A third-year student of Mihama Academy, the Onee-san type who always takes care of others. For some circumstances, Amane skipped one year of school at her previous school, so she is actually 2 years older than [url=/c567]Yuuji[/url]. She is tall and has a very curvy body. Her family manages a long-established restaurant in Ginza, so she is a good cook. Because her mother comes from Kyoto, whenever Amane gets excited or panics, she usually starts talking in Kansai dialect. Amane also has a deep interest in cars and has acquired automatic two-wheeled vehicle license. She has a dirt bike which was remodeled to a cruiser called “Boba Tarou” (ボバ太郎) and put in to the garage of the academy.

She apparently died in an accident which greatly influenced [url=/c567]Yuuji[/url] and [url=/c568]Amane's[/url] lives.[/spoiler]

[spoiler]Presumed dead in a tragic accident years earlier, she was secretly recovered by a covert government research facility, which sustained her life to harness her intellect as the core of the Thanatos System, an advanced computer designed to replicate and manage human brain data. Kazuki was selected to be the blueprint for this groundbreaking system. 

Despite the extraordinary circumstances surrounding her existence, Kazuki's tender affection for her brother remains steadfast.

### Nyanmel (ニャンメル)
A cat which [url=/c571]Michiru[/url] found at the ground site of Mihama Academy. Michiru calls it “Neko-nya” and [url=/c567]Yuuji[/url] calls it “Rommel”, so they combine them and the name “Nyanmel” comes out.

Being a year younger than he, Nanano has always looked up to him as an older brother, and does her part to help around the house by cooking meals and doing housework. As expected, [url=/c7536]Grandma Hina[/url]'s death hit Nanano the hardest. In fact, the topic of her death is one of the few things that can bring down Nanano's normally high spirits, and usually leaves her in tears.

Nanano's motive is proven to be her desire to become a strong and dependable person. While her intentions are noble, her clumsiness has a tendency to show itself during her efforts, to the point where she'll sleep in without meaning to and occasionally screwing up while cooking. Her cooking is unquestionably good, though, and she manages to keep the house clean all the time.

Personality-wise, Nanano is usually cheerful and bright. She's not the smartest person in the world, but can hold her own up to a certain point. ### Yamabuki Renge (山吹 れんげ)
Renge meets our protagonist during the prologue, after the truck she was riding on almost runs him over. Instead of offering an apology, all she does is smirk at him before the truck continues on its way.

In a few words, Renge is a girl with too much time on her hands. Shortly after settling down, she starts playing practical jokes on everyone that crosses her path out of sheer boredom. This does not spare even the store owners in the commercial district. Her quick wit and convincing air of innocence has managed to get her out of trouble, but her true nature quickly becomes apparent to several members of the main cast. Nanano is particularly aware of how cruel some of her pranks can be.

[spoiler]It is later revealed that the reason behind her boredom is that she has a frail constitution, which prevents her from going to school. Aside from her routine check-ups, there's nothing to occupy Renge's time.[/spoiler] [url=/c7538]Kazuhiko[/url]'s involvement in Renge's life begins to bring out urges to experience something beyond her usual routine. Her involvement with the other characters exponentially grows when she learns of the local legend of Hoshiuta, and becomes determined to discover the truth behind it when it is revealed that finding the Hoshiuta will grant that person one wish.

Personality-wise, Renge is usually serious and arrogant. Her trademark smirk is the clear giveaway that she's up to something. She loves being in an advantageous position, and won't hesitate to lie or trick people to get what she wants.
