## Description
Draculius begins when Ogishima Jun, the male protagonist, suddenly finds himself face to face with a childlike maid who introduces herself as Elshlant D. Annoyance. The encounter quickly brings two monumental facts to life: the first is unequivocal proof that vampires exist; the second is revelation of Jun being the sole heir of a royal linage that rules over them. Years ago, Id Demon Brandle – Jun’s vampiric father and would be future emperor – ran from his aristocratic duties to hide among the humans, eventually falling in love with a Shinto priestess named Ogishima Yukari. For reasons unknown, Jun’s father abandoned his mother during pregnancy, and upon this act, Yukari placed a magic seal on her unborn child, locking away the infant’s supernatural abilities. Following the tragic death of his mother four years earlier, the spell has been slowly unraveling, awakening Jun’s latent powers and allowing the vampire nation to determine his location and deliver an ultimatum: Jun would be allowed to continue his existence and assume the mantle of command over his people, but only under the guidelines of three conditions. Condition One: He would be placed under the watch of Elshlant D. Annoyance, serving as his evaluator and mentor in the ways of the vampire. Condition Two: The newly awaken Nosferatu would need to perform a deed that proved him worthy of the inheritance. Condition Three: He would take a bride from one of the noble families to ensure the continued survival of the royal bloodline. As one can imagine, Jun is quite taken aback by all this.

It quickly becomes apparent to Jun, that the life of a vampire is far more perilous than he could possibly imagine. As he learns that many of the legends concerning the powers and weaknesses of Nosferatu are outlandishly erroneous – mostly due in part to the vampires themselves spreading such fictional myths – the young noble is forced to completely reevaluate his own existence while needing the assistance of an experienced vampire in the process. Were the difficulties of self discovery not challenging enough, Jun inevitably finds himself caught within a deadly web of intrigue thanks to the machinations of rebellious factions within vampire society. 
It also becomes clear that humanity is not entirely ignorant of the supernatural world that hides from them, and agents of an ancient powerful organization dedicated to the extermination of “hellspawn abominations” violently pursue his destruction. These factors make it imperative for Jun to maintain as low a profile as possible: for his own safety and innocent human friends. Unfortunately, keeping a low profile is not something his enemies are going to allow. Then there’s the whole matter of marriage…

## Characters
### Ogishima Jun (荻島 潤)
The protagonist of the story.  The son of a Shinso/First vampire father and a human miko mother named Yukari.  At the beginning of the story, he is confronted by a vampire maid named Elceranto D Annoyance, who informs him that he has the right of succession to the Brandole Family of vampires and that she was sent to assess his ability.  A highly intelligent young man with a strong understanding of people born of his own life experiences and mistakes, he worries a great deal about what his progressing transformation will do to him and those around him.  While he is extremely kind and loving to those he accepts as 'family', he is capable of being coldly merciless with those who seek to harm them and even somewhat apathetic to anything that doesn't affect them.  He has a powerful temper that he has kept well-leashed throughout much of his life, though it tends to peek through at odd times during the story.
[spoiler] During the course of the true path, his vampirism progresses rapidly, as does his relationships with his vampire harem (Belche, Rika, Lian, and Xeno).  It also costs him the honesty of his relationships with his purely human friends, which troubles him only somewhat (he doesn't seem to mind lying).  [/spoiler]

### Lian Lucie Dimermore (リアン・ルーチェ・ディメルモール)
Jun's fiance chosen for him by his grandfather.  She is a member of the Dimermore, one of the cadet branches of the Brandole family.  She is very much the naive, pampered aristocrat with all of the inherent arrogance you would expect of someone born to such a family.  That said, she has an immense capacity for love and a tendency toward emotional dependence to those few who manage to get inside her guard.   Her Moon Ties ability, Brain Tyrant, allows her to read and alter the memories of others, as well as control their minds.  She has very little hesitation about using it, which is one of the points she clashes with Jun on early on.
[spoiler]She was originally engaged to Id before his attempt to elope with Yukari, Jun's mother.  This engagement was immensely pleasing to her, and, similar to Belche, she carries a sense of abandonment about the incident, though not to the extent she does. [/spoiler]

A vampire hunter from a world-wide organization devoted to such pursuits.  At the beginning of the story, she confronts Jun about his heritage in a rather violent manner.  Her philosophy is the classic 'shoot first, ask questions later', if at all.  She is a classic tsundere character, though it takes a while to drag her loving side out.
[spoiler] During the story, she is stabbed in the heart and Jun saves her by giving her his blood, making her his servant vampire, to her great dismay.  However, she rapidly begins to show her emotionally dependent side as well as a strong need for love long left unfulfilled due to the lack of parents in her life.[/spoiler]

### Welsheranto D. Anoyance (エルシェラント・ディ・アノイアンス)
One of Id's former blood servants and a Second (vampire turned from human by a First/Shinso) who has been alive for the better part of four hundred years.  She was originally an Irish (indications are she was from Dublin) pub waitress.  She is sent to mentor and assess Jun for his potential as a successor to his grandfather shortly after the story begins.  She holds a number of roles in the story, as mentor, mother, sister, and lover, and she carries them out with aplomb.  She can be extremely cold and ruthless with those outside her family, and even with those inside the family, she is quietly strict while looking after them at all times.  She really does love Jun from the very start, and she never lies to him, though she doesn't tell him everything.  Her Moon Ties ability, Dead Copy, allows her to break down objects on the particulate level and reconstitute them into various shapes and substances she has 'recorded'.  This can be applied to anything from making food out of random materials to replacing lost limbs and organs.  However, the appearance is always changed, if slightly.
[spoiler] Her first love and lover was Id, who treated her as a replacement for his own mother, giving her an insane amount of experience playing the role.  His act of abandoning her when he tried to elope with Yukari broke her heart and her loyalty to him completely beyond repair, though she still cares for him.[/spoiler]

Lian's loyal guard dog, a lycanthrope wolf who makes a hobby of teaching her mistress incorrect information about how to seduce Jun and watching the results with a straight face (occasionally complimenting Lian at inappropriate times).  Her entire existence is focused on her mistress, though that doesn't seem to preclude what she considers play (the aforementioned manipulations).  Her Moon Ties ability allows her to liquify her body and enter tight spaces or hide inside her mistress's shadow, making her the ultimate unobtrusive servant and bodyguard.
[spoiler] During the true path, she comes to acknowledge Jun as her master as well.  In the past, she was deeply fond of Id, as it was his gift of blood that allowed her deformed body to obtain something close to physical perfection. [/spoiler]
