Fusemori Souma departs from his long-time residence deep in the mountains and sets foot in Ouma—one of Japan's major cities.

In this urban setting, there is a religious group called the "Mayoi" (Exorcist) clan, whose purpose is to worship the gods and eliminate the "Yama" (Night Demons) that disrupt the harmony of the world. Due to an age-old pact between this clan—specifically, the Mikosono family—and the Fusemori family, Souma encounters a young girl about his age. Her name is Mikosono Himeka, a girl burdened with an extraordinary destiny.

Draped in a sacred garb and wielding a divine sword, Himeka protects the town as "Sennagi" (warrior priestess), the vanquisher of Night Demons. However, recent times have seen an increase in Night Demon-related incidents around Ouma, and rumors circulate of particularly powerful Night Demons on the loose.

Thus, following the ancient pact between the Mikosono and Fusemori families, they decided to conduct a particular "divine ritual" to enhance the power of the Sennagi.

The ritual to be performed is unorthodox and heretical, in which the maiden is subjected to various forms of humiliation to channel divine power into her. What is offered up is the pure heart of a virgin.

—Himeka is defiled, and by offering her heart, her Sennagi powers awaken.

For the protection of humankind and for her to become stronger as a Sennagi, Himeka sacrifices her body and heart. The role given to Souma is to support Himeka in various ways and to serve as the vessel for the god during the "divine ritual," thereby defiling her as the executor of the sinful practices.

—All of this, to defeat the Night Demons.
—Her body, for the peace of all.

Souma and Himeka consistently engage in this lustful ritual and devote themselves to the ongoing fight against the Night Demons.

### Fusemori Souma (伏守 奏真)
"It's neither due to my family's mission nor as penance for my role in the ritual. I vow to protect  [url=/c126880]Himeka[/url] and her resolve of my own free will."

Souma, the tale's central figure, has come to Ouma City in line with a longstanding agreement between the Mikosono and Fusemori clans. In a world of rituals and divine obligations, he stands as Himeka's ordained partner. At first glance, he might seem intense, even intimidating, thanks to a natural sternness in his eyes and a speech pattern more formal than expected for his age. Yet, this masks an indomitable sense of justice—a need to assist anyone in distress, whether human or beast.

The Fusemori family, although being exorcists, hail from a lineage of Night Demons and have physical capacities far superior to ordinary humans. A unique artifact further enhances Souma's powers—the Wolf Mask—allowing him to morph into a white wolf and bolster Himeka's crusade against the creatures of the night. 

Under the shroud of darkness, Souma becomes Inugami, the wolf-masked Mayoi focused on ritualistic tasks and skirmishes with the Night Demons. By daylight, he's the new guy in class, gradually connecting with Himeka on an emotional level while preserving his hidden persona.

Himeka, the story's main heroine, is the sole heiress of the esteemed Mikosono family. Not just a pretty face, she's an all-around talent who also manages the Ouma Shrine. Everyone in school knows who she is, not just because she's from a well-known shrine family. She's got this warm and open vibe that makes everyone, teachers included, look up to her.

In her other life, Himeka is a Sennagi—a warrior priestess fighting off the evil Night Demons. She willingly participates in the "Shinji" (divine ritual) to ramp up her spiritual power for the battles ahead. As fate would have it, her classmate, [url=/c126881]Souma[/url], is more than just another face in the crowd. He's her partner in the Shinji and her ally against the Night Demons—even if she hasn't figured it out yet.

Though Charlotte's powers remain a mystery, it's said a Sennagi of the Mikosono previously defeated her. Yet here she is, back in Ouma, seemingly taking on a laissez-faire leadership role among the gathered Night Ogres, intervening only when necessary.

She exhibits a cheerful and carefree demeanor, characterized by rapidly shifting and unpredictable moods akin to a typhoon. Her golden rule? If it's not fun, it's not worth doing. This devotion to hedonism sets her apart, as she pursues joy with unmatched zeal. Still, don't be fooled by her apparent airheadedness. Behind the facade, Elle's mind is razor-sharp.

Even among other Night Demons, Elle stands out with her extraordinary regenerative abilities and physical strength. In battle, she wields an illegally modified chainsaw with surprising ease.

With each blade she draws, Mutsu's abilities and fighting style shift dramatically, keeping her foes forever on their toes.

Sallya carries a tranquil presence but isn't shy about taking the initiative. She radiates a profound empathy and compassion even towards those who bear her ill will, displaying an uncharacteristic depth of understanding.

At first glance, she may appear harmless, but her words wield a power that directly interferes with the minds of others. Those who engage her in conversation soon find themselves ensnared, viewing Sallya as a mother figure or a lover. Eventually, these unfortunate souls succumb to their carnal desires, only to have their vital energies sapped away, leaving them but empty husks.

She has been acquainted with Himeka since before their enrollment and is one of the few people that Himeka can genuinely call a friend.

For Souma, who's new to the school, Sakuya proves to be quite accommodating. She goes out of her way to help him settle in, offering various forms of assistance and guidance.

Despite her youthful appearance, Sakuya often displays a more mature demeanor, which adds an intriguing quality to her character. This unique blend of attributes has quietly garnered her a fair share of admirers.

Born into a family that owns a liquor store, Sakaido is a wellspring of peculiar tidbits and trivia, thanks to the odd facts he picks up from customers—even if academics aren't exactly his strong suit.
