## Description
“Spiritshine” is a mysterious power that has long-existed in humanity and nature. Hayato Isurugi—the apprentice of a “Spiritualist,” whose livelihood is to master the use of that power and exorcise demons—was enjoying his peaceful young life at Shinwa Academy.

Working part-time making charms to earn money; enjoying silly, lighthearted conversation with good friends; and secretly planning out a gift for his older sister as thanks for all that she does for him… But his ordinary, albeit pleasant routine is shattered by the arrival of an unforeseen assailant.

While the Academy falls into pandemonium, Hayato is deathly injured trying to protect his friends. But just as he is about to die, he encounters a young woman named “Magatsu,” the incarnation of an evil spirit sealed by his ancestors. It was 1,000 years ago, during the Heian era, that the city was shaken by the 13 Demon Generals. Taking the appearance of a beautiful young woman, the Calamity Shion smiled.

“Well, now… do you want to live, fool?”

“Here is the deal. Free me thyself.”

“And I will give thee strength.”

And thus the story began. The glistening days of youth.

“Even a little rock can make something happen if it starts moving!”

Like a clear sky, Magatsu Barai.

### Isurugi Hayato (石動 隼人)
A hot-blooded, good-hearted young man with an infinite well of kindness and a strong sense of justice, he is unfortunately not blessed with any real talent for spiritual arts other than body-strengthening.  Doomed to mediocrity but not really bothered by it, his meeting with Shion changes his life while also providing a purpose that drives him.  

[spoiler]The powers he is granted by Shion include a mystic eye that allows him to see through others' spellcasting and a spear that purifies corruption.  He also quietly possesses a unique hidden art that he isn't aware of that allows him to sense when others are suffering and want someone to reach out to them.[/spoiler]

### Ikaruga Tsubasa (斑鳩 翼)
The only surviving member of the Ikaruga Clan, which was a family of famous onmyouji that were wiped out when they ran into one of the few god-class Magatsu out there.  She is more or less at peace with what happened, but she is driven by a sense of duty to rebuild the clan.  She gets involved with Hayato and Shion by accident and ends up being their minder at the request of the nation.  She is actually the older brother of a pair of twins that got transferred into his little sister's body during the disaster.  She is still coming to terms with her body and guilt for taking over her sister's body.
[spoiler]In reality, she is a chimeric soul made up of the shattered remnants of the original Tsubasa's and Satsuki's souls, grafted together by accident by the power of the Magatsu that killed them both.[/spoiler]

### Isurugi Amane (石動 亜麻祢)
Hayato's adopted older sister, who was raised with him by her grandfather.  When she is with Hayato, she is bright and loving (as well as being clingy).  However, when he isn't around, she is all business, acting professional and cold to most.  She is a master of youjutsu (the art of using spellcraft directly in combat and enhancing the body) who wields a katana in battle.
[spoiler]She became an orphan during the incident that wiped out the main family of the Isurugi clan.  Her father, whom she had never met, was killed in battle, and due to an art her mother had placed that linked her own fate to her lover, she died at the same moment, leaving her an orphan.  Seeing that her mother valued her lover more than her daughter, she came to despise the exclusive nature of her love, and when she began to display similar traits around Hayato, this emotion only became stronger.  She is this story's semi-yandere.[/spoiler]

### Karasuma Shion (烏丸 しおん)
Shion is one of the 13 Demon Generals known for both using seishoujutsu and surviving using it multiple times, thus making her one of the most dangerous Magatsu in existence.  That said, at heart she is a tsundere who desperately wants to connect with others.  She acts in an arrogant manner and generally assumes that she is the most powerful person in any relationship, but she is mostly treated as a mascot by her classmates.  She is a master of spellcraft, particularly specializing in injutsu (the art of curses and using opponents' power against them).  
[spoiler]Born from the despair of a woman who was falsely accused of adultery by her husband before being killed, she awakened to the 'Jinshiki' seishoujutsu which encourages evolution and strengthening of Magatsu.  For a long time, she went around spreading slaughter by making various Magatsu for reasons she herself didn't understand, until she encountered the founder of the Isurugi line.  It was then that she was 'betrayed' and sealed by the founder, who desperately wanted her to awaken in an era where she could find happiness.[/spoiler]
