This is a story of fate, demise, and hope as the "Godslayer Ragna" and his partner "Hikari" fight to the death to overthrow the gods who rule the people with their overwhelming power.

## Characters
### Ragna Nidhogg (ラグナ・ニーズホッグ)
Ragna is the partner and other half (in a metaphoric sense) of Misaki, a mercenary warrior who was once instructed by Dainslief (from Silverio Trinity).  He has an immense capacity for both love and hate, and he can be classified - by the Silverio universe's standards - as a fanatical martyr of the Light.  However, unlike most such individuals, he has a solid recognition that, as someone who can only move forward, that he is somehow broken inside, and he has no illusions that his prowess as a warrior makes him something glorious or great.  He, in partnership with Misaki, is the Godslayer Nidhogg, the evil dragon-serpent that chews at the roots of Yggdrasil.

[spoiler]A series of events conspire to manifest Ragna Skyfield and Misaki Kujou on earth in place of Tina and Tesse Kujou, the humanoid AIs who serve as the living cameras of the Yamato. Having lost his memory and finding the similarly amnesiac Misaki next to him in the grassy field, they end up walking to the nearest village within Canterbury borders to find food and work.

When the village they spent four years of their existence in is destroyed and the inhabitants turned into crystallised trees by the Gods' experiment, Ragna manifests Fimbulvetr for the first time together with Misaki. When Glenfarth and Ragna clash, the resulting impact sends Ragna and Misaki out of Canterbury and into Antalya lands. They eventually end up at the Liberati household, and their quest for revenge together with Cecile begins.

In addition to his ability to manifest Fimbulvetr, Ragna is also capable of manifesting red crystal Astrea no bigger than knives. This is of great interest to Ouka and the other Gods as they have spent a thousand years finding a way to allow others apart from themselves to crystallise Astrea.

His true identity is an avatar of Yamato imprinted with Kujou Haruto's knowledge and expertise, akin to how an amoeba divides into two perfectly identical selves. The same principle allows to Kujou Misaki with Misaki Kujou as her "parent".  [/spoiler]

### Angelica Von Actleir (アンジェリカ・フォン・アクトレイテ)
An Inquisitor of the Holy Church of Canterbury, an Amatsu (descendant of the Japanese who in the Silverio world have a high probability of natural-born talent), and an Esperanto.  She is the collaborator within the ranks of the Church.  She has a venomous tongue and both friend and foe know she cannot be taken lightly.

In addition to her duties as Inquisitor, which include the unmasking of heretics and traitors and their execution, she is also the administrator of the "Expatriate Quarter", the one area where foreign visitors are allowed to spend the night in Canterbury's capital. 

She has been friends with Patricia for years, to the point they call each other "Pattie" and "Angie". Although she is weary of Patricia's propensity to needle her in public regarding her personality and bust size, she treasures Patricia more than anything else and will go out of her way to ensure her friend is not involved in pitched battles against the Godslayer.

[spoiler]Like all Actleir family members, she is Izana and Ouka's child and destined to bear Izana's child herself one day.  Unlike most of her family, she loathes the idea and desires nothing more than the death of the gods who birthed her.

Her staff Laevatein is the catalyst which powers her ability to project flames strong enough to burn just about anything. Her bloodline accentuates her powers, but at the same time her powers are destined to be no more than an inferior replica of her parent Izana's. [/spoiler]

### Cecile Liberati (セシル・リベラーティ)
A scion of the Liberati, one of the Ten Families of the ultra-capitalist oligarchy of Antalya.  Four years living and working together with Ragna and Misaki have forged an unbreakable bond between the trio which surpasses a mere employer-employee relationship.  Under her smooth, pragmatic manner burns a hatred that rivals or even potentially surpasses that of Ragna and Misaki.

Her clan have a trading relationship with Canterbury for over nine generations. Much of the capital's High Street has shops which are directly affiliated with her clan. The logistics network commanded by the Liberati with respect to Canterbury's Capital is unrivalled in Antalya.

Cecile is head over heels in love with Ragna and makes no attempt to disguise romantic overtures towards him. Ragna on the other hand is consumed by the burden of Ragnarok and has not responded to her overtures positively up to the point where the story begins.

[spoiler] Cecile's family, the Liberati, are the descendants of Sumeragi's first Disciple, Edward, and have inherited the genetic memory and vengeful hatred of their ancestor for him and his fellows for almost a thousand years.  Cecile, like all members of her family, was exposed to this hatred in the womb, and her bloodlust to see Sumeragi die was her first emotion. It is only after meeting Ragna and Misaki that she starts to think of the future beyond the deaths of the gods.

Cecile wields twin daggers and her energy-drain ability allows her to regenerate grievous injuries. Her ability is more effective the more crowded and chaotic the battlefield is. Under the right circumstances, her energy drain ability is so effective she can easily take on foes even Ragna and Jace have trouble dealing with. [/spoiler]

### Glenfarth Von Veratyr (グレンファルト・フォン・ヴェラチュール)
The nemesis of Ragna and Misaki. He immediately claims responsibility for the destruction of their village and the conversion of its inhabitants into crystallised Astrea. Although he is the first to witness the manifestation of the Godslayer, he does not disclose the knowledge to his compatriots immediately.

Although his official title is Head of the Paladins, the other Gods look to him as their leader in decision making. 

Currently, he has one Apostle, William Bergshrine. Bergshrine serves as his right-hand and living sword to use against his foes.

[spoiler]Before the Catastrophe, he was Kujou Haruto. A member of the Japanese research team in charge of the dimensional reactor. When it was sabotaged and his sister left his side, he swore he would use his immortality to find a way to reunite with her.

He has spent a thousand years training in fields he was weak in, to the point there is no one other than his compatriots and William Bergshrine who are his equal in battle. Although he taught Bergshrine swordplay, he confesses his Apostle has far surpassed the effort he and his compatriots devoted a thousand years of effort into while in his forties.

Although his compatriots are happy to proceed with the plan to supplant Amaterasu and recreate the old world prior to the Catastrophe, Glenfarth has no intention of stopping there. His real intention is to ascend as a Sphere and create a world Asgard where ALL of humanity can become Spheres themselves and live the life they wish without limitations. 

Sharing the same origin, Kujou Haruto, he with Ragna are recognized as the same person by Amaterasu. Still, Glenfarth was recognized as "master" entity, while Ragna as "slave" entity.[/spoiler]

### Jace The Overdrive (ジェイス・ザ・オーバードライブ)
The leader of the terrorist organization Full Metal Gigas, fanatics who believe becoming a cyborg is a form of transcedence.  In many ways a typical Fanatic of the Light, who will keep going forward, destroying everything that gets in his way until he reaches the future.  He is the second Godslayer.  He confesses he accidentally blew off his own penis when he over-stressed his cybernetics.  

[spoiler] Having grown up as a delinquent in Adler, he joined the military in an attempt to show up Valzeride, who beat him down once in the past.  However, as he served in the military, single-mindedly fulfilling his role as a soldier, he suddenly found himself confronted by a small child who thanked him for saving her village.  It was this, in combination with Valzeride's affirmation that it was his actions that saved that girl's hope for the future, that convinced him that even someone like him, someone who only has a talent for warfare, can give hope to and protect others.  He is a husband and father of thirteen children, five of them his own, eight of them adopted battlefield orphans.  He is also a Third Generation Masei.  Unlike many Fanatics of Light, he knows that he can't do everything on his own and he is quite willing to pass the baton to someone else when he can no longer continue.[/spoiler]

### Misaki Kujo (ミサキ・クジョウ)
Ragna's partner and other half (better half?).  Together they are the Godslayer.  Misaki is, by nature, a simple country girl who would probably be happier milking cows than fighting a secret war against the evil that destroyed her and Ragna's home.  However, she can be cold when the situation requires it.  Like Ragna, she is a mercenary, but she is far less skilled than he is.

In regular battle, she wields a short sword and can materialise energy blades which she projects at her foes. When she changes her appearance into Tsukuyomi, her wounds create Fimbulvetr for Ragna to wield against the immortals.

[spoiler]A terminal of Kujou Misaki, the central overseer of Yamato and Glenfarth's sister.  She and Ragna were manifested in the place of Canterbury's Tesse and Tina due to a combination of independent events.  She serves a role for Ragna that is identical to that of Vendetta for Zephyr and Nagisa for Ashley[/spoiler]

### Richard Xnbrave (リチャード・ザンブレイブ)
The kind-hearted younger brother of Rufus, who was raised to knighthood solely based on his brother's advancement.  He admires and practically worships his older brother, and he wants nothing more than to repay his debt to society and his brother.

[spoiler] Upon Rufus's death, he swears revenge against the Godslayer responsible.  However, he also befriends Ragna, unaware of his true identity. He is conflicted by his desire to avenge the older brother he idolises, and the fear that his best friend Ragna is truly the killer he is searching for.

Even less capable of fighting than his mundane older brother, Richard's strength (according to Ragna) is the immunity of his soul to the corruption of hatred. Any fighting capability he gains is granted externally; his manifestation as the Kusanagi blade is a product of a dual contract with Glenfarth and Izana or Ragna's gift of the red crystal.[/spoiler]

### Izana Von Xnbrave (イザナ・フォン・ザンブレイブ)
The head of the Xnbrave clan and Rufus Xnbrave's wife. Outside of public knowledge, she is one of the Four Gods who rule Canterbury and is also the head of its special forces, the Ibuyashuu. 

Extremely open with regards to sex, her range includes males and females. She can act as the chaste and loving spouse one minute, a scheming black widow the next. 

[Spoiler]Her name prior to the Catastrophe was Kamishiro Izana. A member of the research team working on the dimensional reactor, she became immortal after the Catastrophe together with her companions. A virtual reality junkie, the loss of that technology in the post-Catastrophe world is one reason why she is so keen on sex for pleasure. Sex is also used for procreation as the Gods resort to inbreeding to increase the number of talented pawns they can deploy to manage the country.

Izana's power works on a very simple concept; she draws energy from a higher dimension and expels it in devastating bursts using cannons shaped like circular crystals. [/Spoiler]

### Ouka Ootori Amatsu (オウカ・鳳・アマツ)
One of the Four Gods who rule Canterbury, she is the head of the kingdom's Astral Research Division. Ruthlessly logical, she will only derive conclusions based on hard data, instead of relying on nebulous concepts like the "gut feeling" of her compatriots Sumeragi and Glenfarth.

[Spoiler]Her name prior to the Catastrophe was Konohana Ouka. The director of the research team comprising the Kujo siblings, Izana and Sumeragi. 

Like her compatriots, she finds violence a sub-optimal solution to resolving an impasse. Nevertheless, she has spent a thousand years overcoming her weaknesses and dislikes. Her power is to increase her physical capabilities using crystallised Astral, to the point her power output surpasses even Glenfarth's. Her fighting strategy is to kill her foes using her fists, or to detach her body parts and detonate them like a suicide bomber (which doesn't impact her fighting ability as she regenerates the limbs almost instantaneously). ### Patricia Von Queenglass (パトリシア・フォン・クイーングラス)
A good-hearted, if foolish, girl who is Angelica's only friend. She teases Angelica to the point Angelica resorts to physical violence to shut her up. She and Angelica go back a long way, both of them refer to each other by their affectionate nicknames "Pattie" and "Angie".

[spoiler] She is Galahad's (from Silverio Trinity) niece. She first met Angelica at a party and resolved to break through her antisocial aura. She quickly realised Angelica was hiding something from her and spent years trying to discern what it was. Although she has yet to figure out what Angelica is hiding, her efforts have given her perception which is more than effective against most people.

Her powers manipulate gravity. Although she excels in range and persistence, her powers are poor in terms of enchantment and interference. Because of this, she is also affected when she activates her powers. To overcome this, her custom-made rifle fires bullets which serve as a medium to channel her powers at the point of impact. ### Rina Kirigakure (リナ・キリガクレ)
Ouka's apostle. She is one of Canterbury's paladins and is assigned to serve as Syu's bodyguard. Older than Syu by two years, she is another of the Kirigakure clan whose destiny is to serve the Amatsu for life. From young, she has served him and is his betrothed, wedded life is something she has looked forward to with great anticipation.

[Spoiler] Despite knowing Syu from a young age, she has never realised his burning desire to fight at the frontline the same way she does. 

Her powers revolve around sonic vibration. Unlike Zephyr Colerain, she can enchant her weapons to deliver devastating blows that can destroy just about anything.  [/Spoiler]

### Rufus Xnbrave (ルーファス・ザンブレイブ)
Sumeragi's Apostle and a Paladin of the Diamond Knights.  While he presents a brave and noble front to those around him, he is in fact a normal, if somewhat self-absorbed young man who has found himself caught up in the web of aristocratic politics, pretending at being something he isn't.

[Spoiler] An utterly mundane innkeeper whose only goal in life was a quiet existence, he is identified as an exceptionally useful pawn by Sumeragi. His cover story as the first commoner to enter the ranks of the Diamond Knights is useful for pacifying the masses by giving them something to look up to.

Despite his designated role as the mascot of the Gods, Rufus increasingly grows dissatisfied with his lot. Unfortunately his mundane nature and preference for the easy option doom him to fulfil Sumeragi's prophecy; that he will never progress or go beyond where he is.

As the newest member of the immortal apostles, he is the first target for the Godslayer and his allies to confirm Fimbulvetr is up to the task. Had Ragna not succeeded in killing him, the alliance with Angelica would not have been cemented.

In battle, he relies on his god-given strength, immortality and the power to summon lightning. [/Spoiler]

### Sumeragi (スメラギ)
The Pontiff of the Canterbury kingdom and ostensibly its ruler. Despite his youthful appearance, he has mastered the art of manipulating others for his own ends. 

[Spoiler]Pre-Catastrophe, he was Sumeragi Yuuya. A prodigy who mastered the concept of astrophysics before he was 12, he was handpicked by the Japanese Government to join the research team headed by Ouka. 

His youth and inexperience made him the least prepared to mentally cope with the fallout. In the early years of Canterbury's founding he relied on his first apostle Edward to build the foundations of the kingdom. Edward proved too talented and perceptive; he foresaw what would become of Canterbury and raised a rebellion against the Four Gods. Without a means to nullify immortality, Edward's rebellion was crushed. 

Disheartened by the rebellion, Sumeragi departed Canterbury and wandered what was left of the world. Eventually he met his wife and stayed with her until she died of old age. This gave him the resolve to aid his compatriots in their attempts to restore the world to its pre-Catastrophe state.

Sumeragi unlike his compatriots does not fight his foes directly. Instead, he shares his divine strength to trusted soldiers, and later the mass-production model of the Planets. His talent as a puppeteer of military robots is unmatched, combined with his ability to share his powers more efficiently than his peers. [/Spoiler]

### Syu Keyaki Amatsu (シュウ・欅・アマツ)
A scion of the Amatsu whose bloodline is strong, he is Ouka's apostle and incredibly gifted at research. Despite his abilities, he is neither arrogant nor ambitious. If there is a flaw in this exceptionally talented individual, it is his desire to form true friendships with others.

He is betrothed to Rina as per the long-standing custom of the Amatsu and Kirigakure clans. Although he does not share her absolute devotion to him, he is happy with his arrangement and will go ahead with the wedding ceremony when the time is ripe.

[Spoiler] Despite his prodigious talent at research and supporting his fellow Paladins from the rear, Syu wants nothing more than to fight with his fists at the front lines. A classic case of personal desire completely at odds with natural talent, his frustration threatens to boil over as the struggle between the Godslayer and the Gods reaches its climax.

When he defends a dying Rina from Jace with his bare hands, he seizes the opportunity to fulfil his lifelong desire even though he is fully aware he is no match for Adler's Zodiac in hand-to-hand combat. Although he is telling the truth when he says he needs no excuse to use his fists to protect his fiancee, it appears that motivation is secondary to his great desire to settle conflicts like a man.

His powers allow him to manipulate the elements and more through his manifested magic circles. Years of living together with Rina have developed an almost telepathic understanding between the two on the battlefield. In addition, he is also talented at commanding machines although not in the same league as Sumeragi. [/Spoiler]

### William Bergshrine (ウィリアム・ベルグシュライン)
A nearly emotionless warrior who has reached the pinnacle of swordsmanship.  Easily the strongest Paladin and Disciple.  He is the Apostle of Glenfarth.

[spoiler] A man who is the embodiment of being 'gifted'.  He has an immeasurable talent for battle, to the point where he can master sword techniques another master might take a lifetime to take in in the blink of an eye.  He is rational to the core, seeing his only purpose in existence to serve as a sword for his master.

Bergshrine is so talented that his combat ability surpasses even his master and the Gods while in his 40s. Befitting the sword of Veratyr, his loyalty is to Glenfarth alone and he will not hesitate to cut down the other Gods should the order be given.

His powers allow him to extend his sword slashes as far as his eye can see. Although it's no more than an extension of his attack range, his natural talent and skill make him the perfect living weapon for Glenfarth's desires. Even Jace acknowledges Adler's Murasame given immortality and Astral powers might not be Bergshrine's equal on the battlefield.[/spoiler]
