In order to help Shiina on her quest, Arata manipulates the game's code in real-time, fixing bugs that threaten the lives of her and her party. It is up to Arata to travel between the game and the real world to investigate the mystery of Shiina's disappearance...

He uses the Enigma Games' bear mascot character Enigma as a skin when he enters World's Odyssey. Its primary function is for administrative use, giving a friendly face to moderators who could enforce fair play within the game. In the events of the game, Arata uses "Mr. Enigma" to communicate with Shiina and interact with her party members. Because Mr. Enigma's function is communication, he cannot participate in battle.
