Your Character is shown to be friendly and trusting, although they can become assertive when others treat them or the people they care about poorly; thus, they are determined to keep things fair. Your Character is hinted at being clever, being characterized as a "Ravenclaw" while they were in college. Her disappearance at the end of the first chapter spurs the book's events into motion.

### Naomi Silverhawk
Naomi Silverhawk is one of the deputies of the Birchport Police Department and one of [url=/c134994/]Your Character[/url]'s love interests. She makes her first appearance in Chapter 2. 

Despite her no-nonsense approach to solving cases, Naomi also has a soft side; this includes reading a lot of romance novels, which she admits to enjoying because of their happy endings. In a premium scene in Chapter 9, she mentions that she loves the helpful community aspect of Birchport, but feels frustrated by the elites due to their superior haughty attitudes. In Chapter 11, she mentions she's had trouble making friends in Birchport as the town's locals are unfriendly towards outsiders.

Eleanor is also blunt, the major example of which being when she tries to tell stories about her romantic experiences with various ex-spouses and ex-partners [spoiler](and later with her fiancée Samantha Winters)[/spoiler] until Your Character stops her. She also finds all of Your Character's suitors attractive and says that if she was younger, she would pursue them herself.

### Jeff Duffy
Jeff Duffy is one of the deputies of the Birchport Police Department. He makes his first appearance in Chapter 2. 

Duffy is timid and obedient towards his superior, Chief Walsh. He is also shown to be dimwitted, given his tendency to say or do things that make himself and Walsh look foolish. [spoiler]However, this is just a cover. It is revealed in Chapter 14 that he is The Birchport Killer and has been targeting the Sterlings for the death of his mother, Alanis Acosta. If Your Character chooses to save Nikolai, they can inform Duffy in Chapter 15 of his birth name, Taylor Acosta.[/spoiler]

### Margaret Sterling
Margaret Sterling is the wife of Pierce Sterling and the mother of [url=/c135100]Tanner[/url] and [url=/c134991]Bryce[/url]. Like the rest of her family, her main concern is her family's reputation and how to protect it. She does not hide her disdain for Kate or anyone who associates with her, [spoiler]calling her a "murdering whore" and wishing for her death in jail following Kate's arrest[/spoiler]. Kate's disappearance is not much of a concern for her, even using the opportunity to further insult her when she isn't present to defend herself.

[spoiler]Twenty-five years earlier, she used Nikolai Petrov's romantic feelings towards her to manipulate him into murdering Alanis Acosta, Pierce's mistress. However, Nikolai could not bear to leave Alanis's child, [url=/c135213]Taylor[/url], to burn in the ensuing house fire and took him to safety.[/spoiler]

[spoiler]Shortly before Kate's wedding day, Taylor was informed by Nikolai of what happened to his birth mother. In revenge, he began to wipe out the entire Sterling bloodline, leading to him murdering Margaret.[/spoiler]
