The Guildmaster cum pub owner Neil and his daughter Lusit run the businesses. This guild is now faced with an existential crisis. The remote town of Dantor is situated on the foothills; it was formerly a massive mining complex run by the dwarves, but with their disappearance the town is now a hotspot for adventurers looking to get rich quick from what is now an enormous underground labyrinth. Amakakeru Oyou was but one guild which kept the mass of ambitious adventurers in control, but the retirement of capable adventurers and the rapid rise of the formidable rival guild, "Kokuyou no Tora" (黒曜の虎) has contributed to Hitsuji running at a loss in recent times. Everything came to a head the previous month when the notice revoking the business license was delivered to the struggling guild. The town of Dantor only permits officially licensed guilds to operate so as things stand Oyou is on the verge of collapse. To renew the business license, Oyou has to produce tangible results within a few months. During this time of crisis, the leading guild breadwinner, the skilled warrior Edgar, has his strength drained by a mysterious monster whilst exploring and is severely weakened to the point he cannot continue his trade. For the remaining guild members, this disaster is the last straw precipitating their exodus. Edgar remains as the sole registered adventurer of Oyou. At this juncture Lusit offers Edgar the position of new Guildmaster. Lusit's reasoning considers her father's advanced age and the effect of having Edgar with his fame as a skilled warrior take the reins, which would encourage young adventurers to gather at the pub. Edgar, who still had lingering regrets over his career-ending accident, thought about his present physical condition and his desire to pay back the guild which he had grown fond of and decided to take up Lusit's offer to become the new Guildmaster of Amakakeru Oyou. And thus, the ex-adventurer Edgar begins his new life as a Guildmaster. [Translated from official website] ## Characters ### Edgar (エドガー) An eternally optimistic youth with insatiable curiosity. He became an adventurer to search for unknown experiences and travelled the world. The last few years sees him throw in his lot with Amakakeru Oyou and develop his reputation as the leading breadwinner, however he is attacked one day by a mysterious monster and the after-effects render him incapable of exploring dungeons and unable to fight. Edgar is effectively retired as an active adventurer, but he leverages the experience acquired through years of adventuring and seeks to rebuild the adventurer's guild together with Lucit. Edgar can manipulate a doll, "Replica", by intoning the command words. This allows him to manipulate the doll's limbs and share its field of vision. Edgar is no longer able to personally join expeditions, but he can still assist his companions with the aid of Replica. [Spoiler] The drive to explore the unknown and experience new sensations has been with Edgar since he was a child. Even amongst this peers, he spent more time poring through maps imagining routes to far-flung lands than playing outdoors. Although the Evil Deity attempts to bait Edgar into servitude by offering to restore the strength lost to him, Edgar comes to terms with the permanent loss of his strength as he is capable of fulfilling his innate desire by serving as Guild Master and guiding the guild to explore the unknown together. The advantages of controlling the Replica out on the field include its small size which allows it to explore small openings out of reach to ordinary adventurers and its inorganic nature as a magic doll. Unfortunately for Edgar no spare parts to improve the doll exist as the technology and expertise which created the Replica to begin with have long since been lost. She's registered with the Amakakeru Oyou guild's rival "Kokuyou no Tora". She has a one-sided rivalry with Edgar, who like her is highly rated for his swordplay, and she occasionally turns up at Oyou to hurl verbal barbs at him. However she really wishes for the Oyou guild and Edgar to regain lost glory, so her taunts are seemingly delivered with the intent of spurring Edgar and the guild on with their efforts. [Spoiler] Although a member of the rival guild, Adria is a frequent customer at the public house and patronises it in addition to challenging Edgar to duels. When her party is exterminated in the lower depths of the mountain, Adria survives through sheer luck and is rescued by Edgar and his companions. After she recovers, she quits her guild in anger at the guild master Ariad's abandonment of her party. She then joins Edgar's guild instead. One of her fallen party members, Maro, was the sister of another Tora guild member Dart who tried to co-opt her in his plan to assassinate Ariad for revenge. Although she rejected the scheme and tried to talk him out of it, the plot unravelled after Ariad discovered Dart's bolt hole and personally killed him in a duel. When Adria was young, she was trained by her adventurer father in swordplay and liked to explore the surrounding caves with her two younger brothers. One day, she went into a cave that was off limits and had to be rescued by Edgar (who was just starting out as an adventurer then). She brashly challenged him to a duel and was soundly thrashed, so her life mission is to become strong enough to defeat Edgar after she grew up. This event took place just over ten years before the start of the game. Adria is easily swayed by flattery, a trait exploited by Edgar and Ariad on numerous occasions. Her neutral and calm manner of speech give no impression of someone ashamed of her race and origins; if anything she's able to talk of herself like an impassioned observer. Although interested in the opposite sex, she's inexperienced to the point she's never ever held hands with a male. She's resigned herself to her perceived lack of attractiveness as a woman and given up on heterosexual relations. [Spoiler] Although born in a city to Wither Elf parents, they could not withstand the prejudice in towns and attempted to return to the forests. Because of the outright hostility from Brightleaf Elves, they joined a Wither Elf community protected and led by an old and powerful mage. It is here that Denetia learnt the art of magic and appraisal. One custom of the community was for teenage members to take on a younger member of the community of the same sex as a "step sibling", the elder sibling would then instruct the younger in the arts of magic. Denetia was ecstatic to learn that her new sibling, Ephemeral, was extremely beautiful and eventually developed a relationship which crossed boundaries. As Lusit resembled Ephemeral character-wise, Denetia tends to flirt with her much to Edgar and Neil's consternation. When the village protector fell ill and the neighbouring human community sought the lands of the Wither Elf community for development, the village was split into two as Denetia sided with those who wished to avoid conflict while Ephemeral headed the faction which sought retaliation. In their desperation, Ephemeral's faction heeded the call of the Evil Deity who promised their enemies would all die provided the faction help the Deity's resurrection. Ephemeral at the last minute opted to betray the Deity after sensing its true intentions, but her betrayal and that of her brethren was detected and the ritual magic backfired on the members, turning them into stone statues. Denetia learnt about Ephemeral's fate and spent over a century refining her skills and abilities in hopes of reaching the mountain where Ephemeral was. Her goal had two steps: Retrieving Ephemeral's statue for safe keeping and finding the original grimoire written by the Deity's disciples which had the power to reverse the spell of petrification. However the stronger she gets, the fewer enemy attacks she suffers which leavers her conflicted as her masochistic tendencies are thwarted with the decreasing encounters with pain and injury. She's extremely frank with regards to physical relationships with the opposite sex. She priorities mutual pleasure above all else and enjoys vigorous sexual activity between assertive partners. On the other hand, she's not good with furtive sex acts nor with sex play which targets her sense of shame. [Spoiler] Feirun was trained from a young age in martial arts by her father, who was so extreme in his methods he handed a dildo to her in order to break her hymen as it was an impediment to training. She was constantly forced to become stronger after losing fights in her dojo, until she progressed so far that no one in her village could fight her. Forced to leave the village in search of new challenges and to discover her personal limits, she reaches Dantor and promptly loses to Edgar when she impetuously attacks him. She joints the guild both to get stronger practising with Edgar (despite his physical handicap) and to repay the damage to the public house when she fought Edgar. She possesses a strong sense of righteousness, but her propensity to move first and think later gets her into fights more often than not. Each time she loses to Edgar in their practice duels, she challenges him at night in sex battles (and loses each time). The Daimyo she served was slain in battle so she works as a free agent. Ever since she left her country, she's made a living inveigling herself with numerous patrons by exploiting her striking beauty and her skills as a Kunoichi. Quiet, but countless men are entranced by her bewitching smile carrying an air of mystery. However, when she has sex her character is completely different and she becomes loquacious and proactively pursues pleasure whilst she belittles her sex partner with her sharp tongue. [Spoiler] Born as the illegitimate daughter of a San daimyo, she found court life unsuitable and sought freedom by training as a Kunoichi. Although she has cut ties with her father, he still cares for her and acknowledges her. She has no intention of letting her half-brother, Gashuu, inherit the position of Daimyo as he is unworthy. To this end she steals the administrative seal which denotes his status and flees the isolationist San Kingdom with her brother in hot pursuit. She eventually reaches Dantor and goes into hiding, forcing Gashuu to hire the Hitsuji guild to find her. After Edgar and Lusit find her, she offers to join the guild in exchange for a secure hiding place (Gashuu would never dream she'd be in the place he hired to find her). After foiling her brother's plot, she turns down the offer to return to San to be at her father's side and chooses to remain in Dantor. A capable girl who runs the pub together with her father yet is also capable of managing the guild's administrative affairs alone. Perhaps it's because of her upbringing; Lusit is pleasant and offers a ready smile to all. Her gentleness and boundless tolerance greatly endear her to the pub's regulars, but she's also capable of razor-sharp wit whilst smiling. Both the pub's regulars and guild members acknowledge the unwritten rule, "Do not under any circumstances anger Lusit." [Spoiler] Lusit is secretly attracted to Edgar and gets jealous when he openly shows affection to the female guild members or travels to the brothel to acquire information. Although they needle each other frequently, they trust each other in times of crisis. The child of heretics who worshipped the Evil Deity, she was initially brought into the world in order to be used as a sacrifice to the Deity to improve her parents' material well-being. However, her father had a change of heart and fled the heretical community with Lusit in town. Meeting Monos by chance, he stowed her inside Monos along with a tablet bearing her name, which was the first and last gift she received from her birth parents. When Neil discovered Monos in the depths and found Lusit inside, he retired from adventuring and set up the guild to better take care of Lusit. Lusit frequently has dreams of the heretical community and its surroundings. The dreams are so lucid she can accurately recreate what she sees in drawings. Neil lied to her about her origins and always planned to tell her the truth when the time came, but never got round to it. The tablet which contained her name is written in a language so obscure and old; only gnomes and Dinetia are capable of reading it. Records found later also reveal Lusit is much older than she looks, but her storage inside Monos and the golem's ability to sustain life using mana as a form of nutrition has kept her from ageing until she was taken out by Neil. Despite her size, she's a mysterious girl who's brash and has a presence about her. She overcomes the persecution faced by many of her kind and lives life to the full. Although highly wary of people she first meets, once she takes a liking to someone she opens up and treats them evenly regardless of race, gender or age. Her appearance belies her considerable sexual experience and she often enjoys taking the lead in sexual encounters. [Spoiler] Born to a community of beastmen living in the shallower regions of the mountain, the only source of entertainment in such a small community was fighting monsters in the nearby confines. Despite suffering injuries frequently, Noir became strong enough to explore the mountain solo. An encounter with the doppelganger monster left her near death, but she was rescued by Adria and her party of Tora guild adventurers. As Ariad refuses to accept non-humans into the ranks of his guild, Adria had no choice but to ask Edgar for help in taking Noir in. Being perpetually understaffed and with no prejudices against potential newcomers, Edger was happy to take Noir in. Noir's status as a minority beastman and her petite appearance make her the target of bullies. However, she is so strong most aggressors are taught a lesson. In addition, fighting makes her sexually excited and she has to satisfy her urges. If Edgar is not available, she will rape males who attempt to assault her for whatever reason. She respects Edgar as "a great senior adventurer". She has a habit of saying "I see, that's good to know" and taking notes immediately after she starts conversations with veteran adventurers. She used to live a quiet life together with nature in a forest far from human habitation, but she was entranced by the story of an adventurer told to her by a human who blundered into her forest and left her forest with a yearning for the world beyond. [Spoiler] Naive to the ways of the world, Riola blunders into Dantor shortly after leaving her forest and is taken in by Edgar just after his assumption as Guild Master. She is easily misled, even going so far as to believe servicing Edgar would ensure her job security. Despite her naivete and inexperience, her powers as a Brightleaf Shaman are not to be trifled with and she aims to become just as famous as other Brightleaf shamans and spell-users from the distant past. When she successfully rescues the children from the ensorcelled tome, her reputation in the guild and Dantor's community increases. Regardless, her humility and drive to improve herself impresses Edgar. A beauty who speaks politely and calmly to all comers in tandem with a bewitchingly seductive aura. She travels this land in order to preach the gospel of Mistra to its inhabitants, most of whom have never heard of the god. Although she worships "Divine Mistra", she does not blindly rely on the power of miracles, instead she has a philosophical view of people's beliefs and frames these beliefs as a subject of research. [Spoiler] Born into a Mistra-worshipping family, all was well until a new bishop of the faith arrived in her town and began to warp the local church into a fanatical cult deviating from the original principles of worship. After her parents sold her to the Church in exchange for high status in the religious community, Roxane was brought up in the inner sanctum to be one of the bishop's harem upon maturity. However the main church sent inquisitors after hearing of the bishop's misdeeds. Eventually the heretic bishop was killed along with most of his devoted followers, including Roxane's parents. Roxane was then taken in by the church and raised as a sister. Her childhood experience left Roxane wondering about the nature of the gods and whether or not humans could themselves transcend and become divine. Despite all of his heresies, the Bishop was able to use miracles right to the end despite committing countless taboos. Because of her experiences, Roxane sees religion in a very scientific and rational method and attempts to divine its secrets on her travels. She joins Edgar's guild after she is found collapsed from hunger in the street. Despite her slim build, she is capable of eating enough food for four people. Her sexual appetite is just as formidable as her physical one, bolstered after she completes the secret and forbidden rituals of her deity with Edgar's assistance. She's usually easy-going, but her eyes light up and excitement builds when she's faced with new discoveries and treasure. With her approachable personality, she hits it off with Edgar who she sees as a friend. Although the allure of gold is a strong one, she pursues the romance of discovering unknown treasures and the truth behind legends. She's now after the treasure reputedly located in the temple of the ancients in the depths of the underground labyrinth. [Spoiler] The daughter of the famous treasure hunter, Vint, Selma took up after her father after hearing many stories of his adventures on his infrequent visits to home. When Vint disappeared in the hunt for the mythical Kohaku insect, she set off to find him and ended up in Dantor. Edgar and Lusit first meet her when they are looking to sell their loot from dungeon exploration and she stops them from being cheated by unscrupulous roadside vendors. Selma, together with Edgar and fellow guild members, eventually find live specimens of the Kohaku insect but fail to capture a sample. During this time Selma discovers her father was recently in Dantor and is possibly still alive in the dungeons searching for the insect. Flirtatious and outgoing, Selma has no qualms using sex to get her way. Although her ambition is to make a name for herself worldwide as a treasure hunter, Dantor has too much of a hold over her at the present. Until she finds her father and possibly a live specimen of the Kohaku insect, she cannot pursue her dream of wandering the world as her father did in search for romance and treasure. A thoughtful man with a calmness befitting his age. His perpetually furrowed brow gives others the impression of sullenness, but stuffing his mouth with his favourite meatpies lights up his expression. He strongly believes Dwarves can live anyway provided there is stone and fire. Because he's disinterested in retaking the lands of his ancestors, there's a distance between him and his fellow kin in Dantor. [Spoiler] He is frequently accosted by younger members of his race to join them in their quest to retake the mountain in order to restore lost glories. He rejects the advances each time as he understands an armed revolt to retake the mountain would displace many peoples who had made the shallower mountain regions their home. He is more interested in keeping the blacksmith techniques of Dantor's dwarf forebears alive as that to him has far more worth than the now abandoned ancestral realm. A regular at the public house who always orders meat pie and ale. [/Spoiler] - **Gender:** Male - **Hair:** White, Beard, Balding - **Role:** Warrior, Dwarf, Blacksmith - **Engages in:** Fighting - **Body:** Old - **Clothes:** Cloak - **Items:** Maul - **Personality:** Taciturn ### Kanbe (カンベエ) A tall man with an imposing physique. Although born in the western lands, he was deeply affected by the culture of the East which led him to travel alone to the country of San and undergo training in swordsmanship before finally emerging as a full-fledged Samurai. His rugged appearance at first glance belies a middle-aged man with a wide range of emotions and an easy-going nature. His personality makes it highly unlikely he'll reach for his sword in anger, but once his Katana is drawn he changes into a fearsome swordsman with a sharp killing intent. [Spoiler] Edgar and Lusit meet Kanbe when the latter accidentally blunders into the territory of local ruffians and has to fight his way out. As he has run out of funds on his itinerant journey, he chooses to join the guild in return for bed and board. Born in a kingdom not far from Dantor, he lost his wife and son for reasons unexplained. Running away from his past, he made his way to the country of San to train as a Samurai. After completing his training, he travels the realms promoting his own form of Bushido: one which prioritises the welfare of children above even his own life. Although he likes wine and women, he does not make any advances on the female guild members to avoid unnecessary conflict. Kanbe eventually starts his own Dojo in Dantor. Despite his denials, he eventually becomes an item with the first disciple to join him. This in turn makes him fearful of Lusit whenever they meet up. [/Spoiler] - **Gender:** Male - **Hair:** Blond - **Eyes:** Green - **Body:** Adult - **Clothes:** Kimono, Sandals - **Items:** Katana - **Role:** Widower, Samurai - **Personality:** Womanizer - **Engages in:** Not Sexually Involved, Remarriage ### Lalo (ラロ) A bovine beastman of small stature. His juvenile appearance belies a warm and reasonable personality; he is a spiritual support pillar of the beastmen community. He possesses a mysterious charisma whereby his presence alone makes people feel at ease. He worships the "Nameless God" whose only extant teaching acknowledges the polytheistic nature of mortal belief, hence he accepts the believers of other faiths as fellow worshippers. His acts to bring about a peaceful coexistence for not just his fellow beastmen, but for all races and creeds. [Spoiler] The leader of the community of beastmen in Dantor, he commissions Edgar and his guild to serve as security detail in his upcoming audience with the lord of Dantor. In the process he joins the guild. After foiling the plot to incite a rebellion amongst the beastmen at their discrimination, he opts to leave the community to travel for a few years to learn more about human society. He vows to return to his community every so often to check up on things and continues to work under Edgar in gratitude for his help. [/Spoiler] - **Gender:** Male - **Hair:** White, Eye Covering - **Clothes:** Shorts, Kemonomimi Hat - **Role:** Monk, Non-human - **Personality:** Smart - **Engages in:** Not Sexually Involved - **Items:** Sceptre ### Maxime (マクシム) A youth of few words who keeps his mouth obscured. He keeps long hair to hide his ears in order not to draw attention to himself as a Brightleaf Elf. He appears brusque and grumpy, but he really has a gentle heart and a strong sense of justice. He has some skill with magic but tends to be overconfident of his abilities and relies on the power of his magic to extricate himself from sticky situations. When he's casting spells in the presence of others, he has a habit of overly dramatic one-liners and gestures. [Spoiler] When the minstrel Doma visited a Brightleaf community singing about the great deeds of the unnamed Hero, a youth named Maxime resolved to leave his community and forge his own legend comparable to the tale he was regaled with. Maxime is honourable, but his delusional personality more often than not drives others to frustration. He has skill with fire magic and can communicate with spirits, but his ability in the latter is not as attuned as Riola's. Unless surprised, he deliberately calls Edgar 刹那の剣士, which annoys Edgar every time as no one else in Dantor knows him by that sobriquet and he doesn't like how pretentious it is. With help from Edgar and other guild members, Maxime succeeds in exorcising Doma's possessed form and frees his soul. In doing so he earns himself his own legend (complete with exaggerated feats) as a measure of gratitude from the minstrel who hired the guild to search for Doma. His ultimate goal is to acquire enough power to make the feats sung about him into reality. [/Spoiler] - **Gender:** Male - **Hair:** Violet - **Role:** Magician, Elf - **Eyes:** Violet - **Clothes:** Robe - **Body:** Younger Appearance - **Engages in:** Not Sexually Involved - **Personality:** Chuunibyou ### Monos (モノス) A round brass golem radiating warmth. A visiting customer practically forced the bar owner to take ownership of it long before Lusit was born, since then it's served as the bar mascot. Although it can communicate with others in the common tongue with broken speech, its choice of vocabulary is peculiarly eccentric. It possesses cooking functions in its "belly" allowing it to boil water, heat ingredients up and perform other culinary duties. [Spoiler] Originally the mass-produced model of a construct created by the Varsus aliens, he did not originally possess self-awareness but has since grown under the care of Neil and Lusit. Monos kept Lusit safe for over a hundred years as the construct's inorganic form rendered it safe from attacks from the Evil Deity's appendages. After the gnome merchant Dominus found a spare part for Monos, some maintenance and a memory wipe allowed Edgar in his replica form to pilot Monos. Although different from his own adventuring days, the combination of heavy armour and strong attacks proved too big an allure for Edgar to resist piloting Monos together with expeditionary parties. [Spoiler] After finding Lusit and Monos, Edgar quit adventuring and set up the O-Hitsuji guild. His advanced years mean he can no longer run the guild and the public house at once, especially with pressure from the Tora guild. He accepts Lusit's proposal to retire as Guild Master, but is always willing to share his knowledge and experience with Edgar. His network of contacts is a wide one, including individuals who commission the guild for unusual requests like restaurant promotion... He is always conscious of playing the part of the model knight because of his lizardmen heritage and his desire to win glory for his kin. He is a little inflexible but an earnest and dependable man. Lusit's indiscriminate hospitality leaves a deep impression on Osvald, leading him to swear an oath to defend her as a Knight. He is extremely durable and boasts considerable physical strength, but he is weak to sudden changes in ambient temperatures. [Spoiler] Originally a monk, he witnessed the first hand the destructive effects of the narcotic "Scarecrow" on lives. Realising his prayers could not bring salvation, he took the spear and trained with the guards to take action against the epidemic. Despite prejudice, he earned the acceptance of the local community and his commitment to eradicating the "Scarecrow" menace eventually earned him a commission from Lord Bertrand. His time as a monk means his meals are always vegetarian, a fact which isn't immediately obvious as lizardmen are the archetype of voracious carnivores. For the children he managed to save from addiction, he continues to give alms to them as a matter of penance. Although Osvald succeeds in catching the merchant peddling "Scarecrow" red-handed, the organization behind its manufacture kills the merchant and burns the evidence. Despite the setback, Osvald vows to continue his hunt and remains a guild member with Lord Bertrand's blessing. He's descended from a long line of cobblers, but he despised the idea of honest work and ran away from home, shortly after sullying his hands with disreputable work. Having achieved an acceptable level of mastery, he was invited to join the thieves guild but turned them down because of his loner personality. Even now he continues his "occupation" alone. He became a regular at the public house because he had set his sights on Lusit, that connection soon led him to join the adventurers guild afterwards. [Spoiler] Serafino's dexterity with his hands and fingers allowed him to be a thief, helping parties with trap detection and disarming during dungeon explorations. He tells a local boy, Harry, that brawn and magic aren't the only prerequisites to becoming an adventurer. The key to successful adventurers in his own mind is finding a niche role that facilitates cooperation and problem solving, allowing expeditions to succeed and all members returning alive. When Harry is abducted by the local gangsters and compelled to kill Hitsuji guild members in return for his family's safety, Serafino uses this knowledge to his advantage and turns the tables on the gangster boss through clever use of misinformation and deception. Serafino is relieved Harry is safe and is given an apprenticeship with a cobbler as he doesn't think the latter would be cut out for a career which required deception to survive. Although one of the Wither Elves who have broken their link with nature, Simon loves nature and lives a solitary life as a Ranger in the deep woods. He becomes a member of the adventurers guild because of circumstances. Simon isn't comfortable in cities or crowded places but for some reason he feels at ease in the Amakakeru Oyou public house. He executes his work smartly, but takes care to never reveal his inner thoughts. [Spoiler] City-born but more at ease with the forest, Simon prefers the company of animals over that of sentient beings. He likes Lusit's cooking, so frequently brings prey he hunts to the public house for cooking. In return he gets free food and drink for bringing in the raw materials. He is extremely knowledgeable of the wooded environs surrounding Dantor, and is the expert to turn to if there are guild commissions relating to the outdoors. He is friends with a wolf bearing a golden pelt. This eventually saves him, Edgar and the noble who sought the pelt for his collection at the cost of his friendship. The experience eventually taught him that living things should seek company with their own kind, instead of living alone or with fellow loners of different species.
