The paths leading to the village suddenly change into a deep forest, in addition many fierce monsters make this forest their abode which threatens the peace of the village. The innkeeper of the village Luis writes a letter to his older sister Tanya, an adventurer by trade, requesting her assistance to investigate the cause of the sudden changes. After receiving the letter, Tanya brings her disciple Lille along and heads towards the village where Luis is waiting... An apprentice adventurer who is currently training under the wing of her master Tanya. Brimming with talent in both the martial and magic arts, her potential is such that even the veteran adventurer Tanya rates her as the "Once in a century Prodigy". Despite being slightly cowardly and with no appreciation of her talents, Lille continues to dream of becoming a fully-fledged adventurer one day. [Spoiler] The offspring of Will Arclight, a warrior father, and a sorceress mother, Lyiene, Lille has inherited both of the talents of her parents. Her father has the moniker of "Dragon Slayer" while her mother's bloodline means she's distantly related to the "Witches" in the story. She is initially very reluctant to venture out of Carne village on her own when Tanya tells her to go out and gain battlefield experience, but she eventually develops and acquires the courage to become independent of Tanya and the resolve to save the village from its plight. Although an expert authority of different magics throughout the world, she is somehow unable to wield magic herself. Because of this, she takes on the role of analysing the information obtained by Lille and Tanya during their explorations. Usually calm and expressionless, she rarely talks about herself. [Spoiler] Tanya writes a letter to Mimi requesting her expertise to resolve the Cain village problems and Mimi travels to the village in response but gets lost along the way. As she is about to be attacked by an orc, Lille saves her and brings her to the village. She prefers to reside in the inn's basement as it has sufficient space for her alchemical tools and equipment unlike a regular room. It is eventually revealed Mimi is the last survivor of the witches who were responsible for amassing the knowledge encompassing millennia, now referred to in rumours as the "Witches' legacy". Mimi's mother was the cruellest and most talented of her clan and raised Mimi to be a worthy Witch, however she began to have doubts over her role after carrying out an assassination on behalf of the clan and realising her mother cared little for her. When Mimi resolved to leave the Witches' clan to travel the world as a human, her mother cast a curse on her which permanently robbed her of mana, and with it her ability to cast magic. Years after her exile, Mimi realised witches did not age like normal humans did and she was shunned and mistrusted, eventually persecuted when humans discovered her true identity and sought to kill her. When Mimi chose to end her life after tiring of wandering the earth as a hunted ex-witch, she was saved by Tanya who encountered her by chance after she'd stabbed herself with a poisoned dagger. Mimi's name was given to her by Tanya as she had forgotten her own after years of wandering, Tanya chose it as Mimi's characteristic hood made her look like she had cat ears. When Mimi resolves to open the portal to her homeland, she asks Lille and Tanya alone as word of her identity would have forced her to run from the village. Fortunately for her both of them accept her for who she is, something she is eternally grateful for. He seeks the "Witches' Legacy" and is willing to sacrifice anything to achieve his goals. An extremely powerful sorcerer, he is capable of raising limitless hordes of undead to fight for him. [Spoiler] A former lecturer at a magical academy, his wife and daughter were falsely accused of being infiltrated witches and were executed unjustly by the Inquisition. In his search to bring them back to life, he learnt the forbidden art of necromancy and excelled at his craft. When he heard rumours of the "Witches' legacy", he sought the most vicious witch still alive and learnt all he could in exchange for his knowledge on raising the dead. After the witch was killed, he felt free to pursue a path to attaining the Legacy without fear of retribution. Although she accepts the request of her brother [url=/c73281]Luis[/url] to return to her birthplace together with her disciple [url=/c73227]Lille[/url] to solve the strange phenomenon affecting the Cane village and its environs, she foists the investigation onto Lille alone and spends her days lazing around her family home, the local inn. Extremely fond of alcohol, she takes to the bottle every night and harasses Lille and Luis in her drunken state. [Spoiler] She was entrusted with the tutelage of Lille by Lille's parents, who helped her in the past and hence could not turn down their request. Fully aware of Lille's talents, she knows one day Lille will surpass her but is happy to provide guidance until the day comes. Although extremely lazy, she also realizes Lille's potential can only be fully unleashed with practical experience. She will watch over Lille and will intervene when she judges Lille to be overpowered by her current foe. When the village is affected by the spell of eternal night, she volunteers to scout the south road of Cane village. Unfortunately she is outmatched by the undead hordes and her life is saved when Lille intervenes to bring her back for emergency treatment. She saved Mimi's life when she found her by chance in a deserted alleyway. She's also responsible for giving Mimi her current name and is her best friend. She initially writes a letter asking Mimi for assistance to resolve the problems around Cane village because magic is not her expertise. The after-effects of her life-threatening injuries and her age (30+) eventually convince her to retire and help her brother Luis run the local village inn. The sudden emergence of the deep forest to the West of Cane village has disrupted well-used trading routes, which has had an almost terminal effect on business at the inn. Luis is unsurprisingly delighted to have paying guests when his sister returns home. He has zero combat ability and supports [url=/c73227]Lille[/url] and his sister like a typical innkeeper: Good food and clean lodging. [Spoiler] Lille turns to Luis for help in converting embryos into familiars. This requires sexual contact to obtain sperm, a necessary catalyst for maturing the embryo.
