However, it seems as if he isn't telling her everything... Melanie's "partner-in-crime" Shisui is the only one who seems to realize, but at the same time wants to preserve her innocence. Melanie runs head-first into the world with accepting arms, while Shisui curses it for forcing a cruel fate on Melanie. Bright and ready to take on the world head-first, she's a friendly girl who just wants to get along with other people. On the naive side, she trusts Ven without questioning his intentions much. She often plays the fool just to make others laugh or lighten the mood, but she makes a conscious effort to be aware of how the people around her feel. Equipped with any and every kind of destructive magic, Shisui has the strength to destroy the world if he wished for it. However, that world includes Melanie. So, he holds back no matter how he feels about his world which he finds twisted. [spoiler]Unlike Melanie, he's inherited his memories of his past life as Seihuo. Incredibly conflicted by this second identity of a life that true him hasn't lived, he feels frustrated and manipulated by Ven. Polite, professional, and a bit awkward, Veltaire is a gentleman who hasn't had much experience with the outside world. As his role requires it, he tries to be more detached, but his heart won't allow it. [spoiler]His true identity is a terminal of the Natural Order of the World, the consciousness of the 13th world that awoke as a response to several disasters on the planet. One of these disasters is the fact that the 13th world originally didn't have a Magician. The Order attempted to create Veltaire in the image of the universe's creator (Clavie) to fulfill the role, but ultimately failed. Instead, Ven became the Magician after being chosen by Clavie himself. Veltaire now just reluctantly works as the Order's underling.
