## Description
One day, Kadokura Kou awakes in a virtual battlefield. He, who is a skilled Simulacrum user, soon remembers that he was pursuing someone with Rain, his partner. 

Kou and Rain investigate the incident that ruined his peaceful school life known as "Gray Christmas", but various mysteries stand in the way of the truth. As time passes, he gradually regains his lost memories and re-unites with his friends.

When all of the mysteries congregate, the door of truth opens...

The protagonist of the story. A free mercenary and an excellent Simulacrum pilot. Kou has been chasing after the the truth behind the incident known as "Gray Christmas", in which his town and school was razed, but loses parts of his memory at the beginning of the story.

### Minazuki Makoto (水無月 真)
Makoto is one grade lower than Kou and is Sora's younger sister, usually being doted on by her. She and Sora both move into the Kisaragi Dormitory during their school days. 

She has a condition known as Cybernetics Ego Boundary Disorder, the same condition Kou's mother suffered from. This condition causes her to develop an abnormally deep connection to the virtual world, allowing her to read the thoughts of people on the Net while at the same time disclosing her own thoughts to those around her. In contrast, she is incapable of properly articulating herself outside of the Net, which once resulted in her being a common target of bullying.

He was dispatched to Suzushiro City along with a contingent of GOAT troops to quell the growing unrest in the city. His personality is strict and obstinate, with a dignified and intimidating aura that befits a genuine military man. As a member of GOAT, he could be said to harbor anti-AI thoughts, and it would not be a stretch to say that he hated them. Though his surname makes it obvious that he is Rain's father, they are currently estranged due to an incident that occurred long ago.

He pilots the Simulacrum "Tyrant Gigas", and is highly skilled in using it, having once been fierce rivals with Kadokura Eiji in their youth.[/spoiler]

Even though she is polite and gentle, her gestures and expression often leave an impression of coldness.
She rarely expresses much emotion, but is merciless towards her enemies.

Her actions usually put Kou's safety as top priority, so much that she may even give up her own life for Kou.

She pilots the Simulacrum "Aigis Guard".
